| SUSTAINABLE ALLENDALE CONVERSATION |
What is the Sustainable Allendale Conversation?
Because of issues like rising costs of fuel, reducing public services, an ageing village population, expensive housing, concerns about food security, falling school roles, and a recession it is timely for communities to have a discussion (the Sustainable Allendale Conversation) about what sort of community we are all working towards in the longer term (for all the Allen Valleys about twenty years ahead).
A Sustainable Allendale Conversation project group (open to anyone) was formed in November 2008 and is doing the work on the project. The project completes at the end of 2009 with a community vision for 2030 and a simple action plan to deliver it. The conversation so far has been via community groups, through a village questionnaire, and public meetings. The project is being supported by the parish council, complements the parish plan, and is being encouraged by the county council.
